Herein, we report high-performance organic electrochemical transistors (OECTs) based on unidirectionally morphology-controlled organic mixed ion-electron conductor (OMIEC) films. To realize the unidirectional polymer chain alignment, we incorporated alkyl-ethylene glycol hybrid side-chains into the OMIEC polymer to ensure the necessary hydrophobicity and pre-aggregation. Furthermore, we fabricated thin films using the wet-transfer method which facilitated the alignment of polymer fibrils under the influence of drag force. Various surface and crystallographic characterizations of the resulting unidirectionally-aligned OMIEC polymer film demonstrated that the polymer fibrils are well-aligned in a direction conducive to charge transport. Finally, this approach enabled the fabrication of an OECT with an unprecedentedly large figure-of-merit exceeding 800 F cm-1 V-1 s-1 and charge mobility over 8 cm2 V-1 s-1. |
